By offset overlapping the Velcro® brand fasteners it is possible to change the bottom circumference of the gaiter to fit properly on nearly every boot a person wears. Allows the uppers to be sized to fit over different layers of clothing. This is important with crampons that will easily catch on excess material around the ankle and lower leg area. 1000d Cordura lower section, lined with packcloth Cordura provides extreme durability on the outer part of the lower section. Packcloth lining protects the inside coating of the Cordura from wear, adding to the very high water resistance and overall durability of this gaiter. Upper made of 3-layer Taslan Gore-Tex Waterproof and vapor permeable, allowing vapor to escape the leg section. Taslan gives the leg section a high degree of durability while maintaining the advantages of Gore-Tex. Nylon-supported rubber instep strap Very durable strap material lasts longer than other materials used to secure gaiters. Buckle is positioned to the outside to reduce wear and catching on crampons. Six bar tacks at the point of attachment for maximum durability and strength. Strap is very wide at the point of attachment to aid in creating an excellent seal at the base of the gaiter, where the boot is concave and otherwise open to snow packing up into the ankle area. Small loop on the outside of the foot section keeps the end of the strap from flapping around. Asymmetrically cut bottom edge When instep strap is tightened, this shaping allows the gaiter to fit evenly around the boot, without gapping. 3/4-inch cam buckle and Nylon webbing at top The very low profile of this buckle makes it comfortable even when the gaiter is against bare skin when wearing shorts. Easy to open and close with bulky handwear. Never slips and won't let the top of the gaiter slip down the leg. 3/4-inch nylon webbing strap will not cut into the leg when tightened as narrower draw cords do. The gaiter tapers slightly at the ankle to give an even better form fit at the boot top and lower leg. Combined with the adjustability of the Velcro® brand fasteners closure, this helps the gaiter fit a wide assortment of leg sizes and clothing layers. Heavy-duty, double-riveted lace hook Grabs the boots laces to secure the front of the gaiter. Double riveting keeps it on the gaiter in the worst bushwhacking the world can offer.
