It shuns ugly wind and weather, dries quickly and wears well on its own or under a shell. The front zip is backed by a wind flap and chin guard; the hood snaps on or off (the snaps hide under the placket), and the elastic spandex cuffs and drawcord hem seal out icy air. Handy pocketry includes two handwarmers, an outer chest pocket and an inside mesh pocket so body heat can dry your gloves.
